HMI Proposal Cover Art
The cover image on the April 2002 HMI proposal is a photo of the Pomodoro
cube (which is presently in the Keck Chemistry building at Stanford University)
overlaid on a photo of Pomodoro's Sphere No. 6 (Hirshhorn Museum, Washington
D.C.).
The cover of the 1984 NASA report "Solar Oscillations from Space" featured
Pomodoro’s Sphere No. 6. That report led to the helioseismic study
of the global Sun. Pomodoro's Cube at Stanford can represent HMI data cubes
for investigation of localized regions in the Sun.
