STATUS/ACCOMPLISHMENTS SDO was well represented at the Fall 2002 American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting, both the Project and Instrument teams gave presentations which described the mission & the great science planned. The Project also participated in HMI Instrument meetings and site visits at Stanford & LMSAL. While attending the AGU, both our HMI & SHARPP Principal Investigators informed us that the United Kingdom decided not to contribute the CCDs & camera electronics to their investigations. This is a change from their proposals/selection so both teams quickly met to start formulating/working a recovery strategy. They will complete their recovery plan/options by 2/17/03 which enables us to work the options with HQ & make a decision by April in order to maintain Instrument schedules. We provided information to NASA HQ Codes S & Y in support of the possibility of flying the follow-on SORCE Instruments on SDO. Although it seemed like a good match for the Science teams & NASA, Code Y decided not to pursue the opportunity. Note: per request, more detail will be provided in these weeklys starting next week.
