STATUS/ACCOMPLISHMENTS The systems team has been holding detailed meetings and telecons with the Instrument and subsystem teams to get their inputs to the SDO Mission Requirements Document (MRD), which details the SDO Level 2 mission requirements and their traceability. These comments have been reviewed and folded back into the MRD and re-released Thursday (2/6) to the entire SDO team in preparation the Systems Requirements Retreat (SRR) to be held Feb 11-12. The systems team has also been planning the upcoming SRR presentations, as well as the technical splinter meetings planned with the subsystem and instrument teams. As part of the SRR, the systems team has planned a detailed walk-through of the MRD requirements to review their accuracy, traceability, and allocation with the entire assembled SDO team. In addition, the technical splinter meetings will highlight specific technical issues that need further definition and coordination between the SDO spacecraft and instrument teams. In addition, the systems team has been working closely with the subsystem leads to develop an updated spacecraft bus concept that reflects the recent launch vehicle decision from Code S. Preliminary details of any design changes are planned to be presented as part of the technical splinter meetings in the SRR. The SDO Ground System Team and key members of each SOC completed it's final field visit and assessment of the WSC (White Sands Complex). We also received the formal "SDO Ground System Link Analysis" of WSC and Wallops performed by Code 450 and ITT Engineering Industries. WSC rated very well for our SDO application, but Wallops did not rate as well based on weather and infrastructure capabilities. A formal letter of request will be submitted through Code 450 to the Johnson Space Center to reserve two antenna pad locations and approximately 800 sqft in building T1, room 150. The Ground System Manager is also preparing an SDO Mission Overview presentation for the Code 580 management team (2/19). Included in this presentation will be a call for civil servant support for the purpose of retaining core CS competency at the center level.
