The SDO systems team continues to work with the subsystems in preparations for the upcoming Subsystem PDRs and the Mission PDR. The weekly SDO systems meeting focused on the SDO documentation review and configuration process, reviewing the document required by PDR and providing clarification as to the process and what is expected from each of the document originators/submitters and reviewers to get documents approved and under CM. The Systems team released the draft Systems Engineering Management Plan for review and is currently updating the SDO Missions Requirements Document (MRD) for pre-PDR baseline. In addition, the systems team is currently in the process of reviewing and proving comments to a number of mission and subsystem documents included in the PDR-critical documents list. In other areas, the weekly parts team meeting continues to collect and evaluate SDO subsystem parts lists. An updated parts spreadsheet was recently completed and the parts and radiation team is the process of populating and reviewing the initial parts database. Finally, the systems team participated the monthly Systems Engineering Risk Validation Board (SERVB) Meeting, reviewing and updating the SDO Risk List in preparation for next week's SDO Risk Management Board Meeting. For the Spacecraft, the Ka Band subsystem team made progress in understanding the process risks of attaching MMIC devices in the Solid State Power Amp (SSPA). An alternate manufacturer process is being investigated. The team has also agreed that a thermal cycle test of the SSPA breadboard and a life test of the transmitter is required. A configuration change request was submitted this week for splitting the Subsystem Power Node into two cards - a Power Converter Card and a Low Power Switch Card. This change was required due to FPGA power sequencing requirements and output common mode filtering. As a result of this change, the ACS, C&DH and GCE boxes will grow by approximately 4 kg in mass and 1 W in power. The Flight Software team has switched their baseline SDN operating system from Nucleus to RTEMS. This switch was made due to data sharing protocol advantages of using RTEMS over Nucleus. In the schedule area, the team continues to work detailed plans for the 4/08 launch and the Peer Review schedule is becoming less dynamic with most review dates baselined. For the Instruments, HMI continued its series of Engineering Peer Reviews leading up to their Instrument PDR (IPDR) in November. An HMI Thermal Peer Review was held on Wednesday with comments reflected back to the team. A proposed IPDR agenda was created by the HMI team and was forwarded to the code 300 lead, Tom Cygnarowicz, for comment after review by the SDO team. EVE submitted updates to the ICD documents in preparation for discussions next Tuesday and Wednesday at GSFC. EVE SDO SCR RFA responses are expected next week and will be discussed during the EVE team visit. The EVE team held a Flight Software Engineering Peer Review on Wednesday with comments reflected back to the team. In the area of e2v CCDs, we have agreed & started to work on a contractual transition approach from NRL to Stanford. We are waiting on GSFC Legal approval of the letter contract to LMSAL for their AIA formulation effort. We had hoped to have this letter contract in place last week, the delay is impacting our PDR effort. The Ground System team has started weekly Mission Operations Center meetings to address/work the interface requirements and the associated design parameters affecting our CMD & TLM system (ASIST) development. The Ground System elements are preparing their revised manpower and development schedules reflecting the 04/08 launch date which will be complete by the end of this month. The team also held a meeting with the MOMS and NEMS contract transition staff to discuss SDO support options. In the area of CM & Project Support, the team: participated in System/Subsystems meetings to address how documents are processed from original generation thru the review & release process; started DOORS (requirements management) training; updated action items; posted items to our intranet site; continues to negotiate GSFC manpower responses; received approval from the Facilities Management Division and Logistics Management Division for the construction of our new offices in Bldg. 29, Room 360; made arrangements for office moves & the arrival of a few new employees.
