The systems team continues to focus on reviewing and providing feedback on the SDO subsystem level 3 requirements documents in preparation for the upcoming SDO Mission PDR. The first wave of these documents completed the review process and are being baselined by the SDO project as part of this week's CCB meeting. The weekly SDO Systems Team meeting focused on a working discussion of updates to the SDO pointing/jitter/alignment budget, with the GN&C team providing inputs based on their recent trip to meet with the HMI and AIA instrument teams. The Parts and systems teams met to focus on the goal of assembling and providing weekly parts updates for the project and subsystems teams. The C&DH parts list was reviewed and modified as a pathfinder for the remainder of the subsystem parts updates. The ground systems and systems team met to further define the operations concept development and documentation approach in preparation for further detailed definition of the SDO Ops Concept. The systems team supported the Risk Management Review Board Meeting, providing inputs for reassessment and update of project risks. The Integration & Test tiger team continued to make progress in defining the integration flow and documenting the planned activities in the Integration & Test Plan. Each section of the Integration & Test Plan has been assigned to a team member to author. A RFI was released for the High Gain Antenna System Gimbal Actuator procurement. The RFI includes both a Specification and Statement of Work for possible vendors to review & provide comments. In the area of the Instruments, the HMI team made progress on multiple fronts this week. Light Machinery provided the test plan for the Michelson Interferometers and it is being reviewed by HMI. The EDU process card and 1553 cards were received and are being integrated into the HMI EGSE, and shutter parts and Lyot filter elements are on order. The team also made progress in maturing their drawings, specifications, and schematics. A no cost extension to the EVE contract is being sought to allow sufficient time to transition to the follow-on contract. The CDRL, Instrument Specification and SOW are being finalized with the EVE team. Based on last week's I/F working group discussions, SAO (AIA) sent a revised pointing error budget to LMSAL for review. SAO also completed the procurement specification and SOW for mirror blanks. LMSAL has started the planning to modify a vacuum chamber to support the mechanism life tests for both HMI and AIA. CCRs to increase the AIA data rate and add two additional Guide Telescopes are being drafted for SDO CCB approval. A tentative date of March 4th has been agreed with Code 300 for the initial AIA PDR. Finally, preparations are complete for Risk Management discussions next week at HMI, AIA, & LASP. The ground system team began delivering the first of their peer review packages, beginning with the Communication and Networks Peer Review scheduled for 1/28/04. Drafts of the new MOMS and NENS contract task orders were started and will replace the current ground system IDIQs which end 1/31/04. For CM & the Project Support team, we held a CCB on Wednesday, Jan. 21 to discuss & reach approval (next week) on 4 documents: SDO-CCR-039: Initial Release of SDO S-Band Specification, SDO-CCR-038: Initial Release of SDO Ka Subsystem Specification, SDO-CCR-033: Initial Release of SDO Power Distribution Diagram, and SDO-CCR-034: Initial Release of SDN Requirements Document. The next SDO CCB meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 29 at 1:00. Due to problems with a facilities vendor, we have identified a new vendor for the construction of the "walled" offices in Bldg. 29/Rm. 360. Procurement is working with us to get this purchase request expedited. I would also like to thank Emilie Drobnes, Chris Johnson, Gary Davis, Mike Powers, Robert Duffin, Eliane Larduinat, Barbara Thompson, David Ward, Dean Pesnell, Rob Lilly, Terri Hynson, Terry Kucera, Denney Keys, and Alex Young for participating in "Bringing the Sun" to Belvedere Elementary School. The Principal and his staff expressed their gratitude and appreciation for making the event a great success for the student body. Also, congratulations to Belinda Barker (SGT) on her recent promotion to Project Support Manager for SDO.
