SDO Weekly Report for April 9, 2004 The SDO Project Management team is continuing to focus on the next steps in the Confirmation Review process. Inputs to the IRT ICE and RAO have been completed, however, the recent release of new rates this week will cause some adjustments to be made. The Project debrief with the IRT is scheduled for next week. The Project is working on its POP04-1 submittal. SDO's spacecraft development priorities post-PDR are breadboard fabrication and procurement preparation, and progress is evident on both fronts. Each of the in-house avionics efforts has made tangible progress in their breadboarding efforts recently. Several of the ACE's boards have completed fabrication, and the remaining boards are in fabrication at this point. Layout has begun on the first GCE and SPN boards (the SPN is going straight to ETU); and two of the C&DH board designs have held pre-layout reviews, and are now ready for layout. On the procurement front, the Single Board Computer RFP is ready to be released, the HGA Gimbal and ECRA Specification and SOW are ready for baseline review, and a SOW template has been provided to cover the needsof many other procurements. A Specification template is soon to follow, providing common environment, interface, and verification information to be tailored for each procurement, and its our hope this effort will ease the project/procurement/legal review burden in the long run The HMI proposal to include AIA CCDs, Camera Electronics Boxes (CEB), and EEE parts procurement on the HMI contract is nearing completion. HMI has received a bid from RAL for the CEBs and will be putting the finishing touches on the proposal before submitting it to the project. The shutter life test has been scheduled to begin early next week. The connector pin-outs for the S/C simulator harnesses will be available in early May 2004. e2v is on schedule to deliver two demonstration models CCDs to HMI in May 2004, and has made good progress on flight CCDs with two batches half way through the processing stage. RAL received the demonstration a 4kx4k CCD from e2v and is integrating the device into the SECCHI camera. The SECCHI camera performance test is now scheduled for the end of April 2004. Brad Watson has joined the HMI Mechanical team and will be working on the HEB enclosure design. AIA continued preparing for the PDR-2, to be held at LMSAL, on April 14-15. All required peer reviews are complete except for the Image Stabilization System which will be reviewed after PDR-2. LMSAL has placed a purchase order for the AIA Camera Electronics Boxes with Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom. The SDO project continued the review of the AIA Phase C/D/E proposal. The Ground System team is preparing for the SDO Ground System PDR, to be held on April 21 and 22. -- Liz Citrin 301-286-9345 FAX 301-286-4940 Cell 410-241-0503
