Subject: [Fwd: SDO Weekly Report for October 14, 2005] From: Phil Scherrer Date: Thu, 13 Oct 2005 16:44:25 -0700 To: hmi_local@quake.Stanford.EDU -------- Original Message -------- Subject: SDO Weekly Report for October 14, 2005 Date: Thu, 13 Oct 2005 16:11:28 -0400 From: Robert Lilly To: ... *_SDO Weekly Report for October 14, 2005 _* _Executive Summary:_ As of Thursday the 13th at 4pm, no SDO FY06 funding has made it to the Center. The Project is standing by to process PRs as soon as funding becomes available, hopefully in the next few days. _Detailed Reports: _The SDO Systems team is completing weeks of work meeting with the subsystem teams to further define the SDO Failure Detection and Correction (FDC) implementation. An internal FDC review will be held next week to provide a final review and scrub of the SDO FDC implementation details, to be followed by a formal FDC Peer Review in early November. Regarding the spacecraft, progress was made along several High Gain Antenna System (HGAS) fronts this week; the RF Rotary Joint (Qual Unit) completed environmental testing; the ECRA (Qual Unit) assembly is completed; the Gimbal Actuator (Qual Unit) vibration testing is completed and the unit is being prepared for thermal vacuum testing. The PSE SDN #2 arrived at GSFC and is in checkout. The flight harness build has started again after receiving 26 awg wire from the vendor to replace some wire that was found to be corroded. Two vendor kick-off meetings were held; the L-3 Comm S-band Transponder and the AEA battery meeting was held in Abington, England. The ground system has received Release #1 of both the Portable Spacecraft Simulator (PSS) and the Alert Notification System (ANS). Both systems are performing well so far. The Science Operations Support (SOS) room is configured for use by ST-5 for their launch support. Allowing ST-5 to use the SDO SOS is part of a cost cutting-sharing of resources arrangement made between the GS IM and ST-5 GSM. The Ground System successfully completed their 'delta CDR' for the SDOGS subsystem. This presentation also included the LRO initial antenna design. Only 4 RFAs were received from a heavily attended GSFC and WFF-Code 450 audience. White Sands personnel and the antenna vendor (Datron) attended by telecon. AIA instrument mechanism functional and operational testing has been completed for the first flight spider assembly. The first flight AIA structural tube assembly has been bonded at ATK, and is undergoing final testing prior to delivering to SAO. The initial test runs for the 94 Angstrom coatings have been carried out in preparation for the flight coatings next week. The reworked optics received from SAGEM last week have been inspected and shown to meet all requirements. The final reworked AIA mirror from SAGEM is expected this week. The HMI ISS tilt mirror PZT mount parts have been received, and the tilt mirror is on schedule to complete testing next week. The HMI shutter and focus wheels are assembled and undergoing testing, with bakeout scheduled for next week before their installation into the HMI Optics Package (HOP). The waveplates are being mounted into the hollow core motors this week, and will be moved to the HMI cleanroom next week for installation into the HOP. HMI has received the detector headboards and have sent the coupons for test. The HMI front window has received bandpass and IR blocker coatings, and is in the process of having the anti-reflective coating applied.
