was held in Boulder, CO this week. The EVE team's preparation and hard work throughout the last year paid off with a successful CDR. The Integrated Independent Review Team was complimentary in many areas. The SDO Project would like to thank the entire LASP team for the dedication and effort they have exhibited in meeting this milestone. Detailed Reports: Spacecraft procurement activities continue to progress. Evaluation of proposals are on-going for the S-Band Transponder, Ka Band High Gain Antenna, and the Propulsion System Pyro Valves, and Check Valves. Solar Array RFI is out to industry. Isolation Valves should be awarded today or tomorrow. Pressure Regulator Design Conformance Review (DCR) in this week and Pressurant Tank DCR end of February. Regarding the printed circuit boards for the Power Systems Electronics ETU, the Battery Module and the Deployment Module are in fabrication; the Solar Array Module is in checking. As for the C&DH, the Bulk Memory Card Software Diagnostics was delivered. The Single Board Computer Breadboard was delivered to the flight software lab's C&DH string. The Ka-band CDR peer review was held this week. The bulk of the ground system accomplishments this week centered around contracts and CDR preparation. The MOMS contract extension has been forwarded to HTSI and they are responding with their technical and financial information. The NENS contract has been forwarded just this week to HTSI to do the same. Both contracts expire on the 28th of this month. Preliminary work on the two IDIQs for Genesis Engineering and CSC is also underway. These two contracts expire at the end of March. Much work continues on both readying documentation for CDR reviews and their associated Peer Reviews taking place over the next several weeks. Presentation packages are being readied for these reviews and many dry-runs took place this week in preparations for the Peer Reviews. The Ground System Readiness Team was able to effectively drive down the cost of the proposed spacecraft/data test simulator to a figure that will now work within the ground system budget. Finally, the lead DDS Engineer has been requested to prepare a paper on NASA's new large-volume data processing project (SDO) for an industry presentation this spring. Many of the personnel common to both HMI and AIA are busy preparing for the AIA CDR on Feb. 16th, but despite the busy schedule, progress continues on the HMI instrument. Although slipping a few days, the Optics Package Structural Model (SM) vibration test is imminent. Mass properties and alignment have been completed SM at LMSAL and it is due to arrive at Wylie Labs in El Segundo on Friday, February 4. Testing will begin next week. The filter oven assembly ETU is progressing toward completion with current plans to start thermal vacuum testing next week. In addition, the HMI grounding diagram and HMI electrical block diagram CDRLs have been submitted to the project. The HMI flight optics are arriving at LMSAL with receipt of the telecentric, beam control, reimaging, and calibration lenses from Janos; and the focus blocks Rocky Mountain Instrument. The flight Michelson Interferometers are expected shortly with the pre-ship review scheduled for next week at Light Machinery in Ottawa. LMSAL ships their AIA Structural Model (SM) components to SAO this week to begin assembly next week. Post-test alignment checks of the SM Primary Mirror (PM) vibration test that was completed in January indicated a slight tilt of the PM occurred during the vibe. Investigation revealed that a restraint pin within one of the mirror's three flexure assemblies had moved due to an out-of-round condition of the pin hole most likely caused by an offset in the machining process. This will be corrected and the mirror re-tested. Rob Lilly SDO Deputy Project Manager 301-286-7752
