Draft agenda for HMI Team Meeting in January 2005

NOTE – this is still in development – MOST BUT NOT ALL SPEAKERS HAVE AGREED

 

This is NOT a science meeting where we get to learn of the latest neat results.  It is a planning meeting where we can discuss the implementation plan for preparing to have neat results in the summer of 2008!

 

We will be able to accomplish the meeting goals in 2 days. So we have scheduled Weds and Thursday 26 and 27 January for the meeting.  This choice allows those with teaching conflicts on Weds to attend the in depth discussions on Thursday and does not force a meeting ending after 5 PM on a Friday night.

Discussion of the requirements for data reduction and data analysis of the magnetic field will be organized around several topics.  The purpose of the sessions is to understand the requirements on the measurements and the data analysis algorithms for the vector magnetic and photospheric flow fields, and the computing needs for modeling, analysis, and the synoptic and forecasting efforts.  In the morning sessions we will address the two data reduction issues.  In the afternoon topics will focus on data analysis.  Each session will include time for presentations and time for general discussion.

We will have a chairperson and note-taker for each of these discussions.  The idea is to explore in more detail the data products that need to flow out of the pipeline processing as well as the science analysis development that needs to take place in order to use these products.

 

There will be an attached LoHCo helioseismology meeting on Tuesday the 26th in the HEPL conference room.
